Parent Teacher Communication

Formal reporting to parents is by:

  • Parent Information Sessions.
  • Parent/Teacher/Student Meetings in Term 1 & 3.
  • Learning Journals which are sent home each Term.

Parents are encouraged to meet with teachers when a need arises to discuss any issues relating to their child’s progress. Contact should be made with the child’s teacher to organise a suitable time.



The School Newsletter is published each Friday. This is available via our school app and on our school website. The newsletter contains all the information you will need to know about things happening at school and upcoming events. It is a vital means of communication with the school community. Hard copies will be available on request.


PAM App and Facebook

The school uses the PAM app to communiate with our school community.  We strongly encourage all parents to use this app as it is a great tool for parents to be able to notify the school of any absences and change of details. It also contains our school calander, school newletters and other pieces of vital information.  Please contact the office for login details.

St. Monicas also has a facebook page we encourage you to join.


Student & Family Information

Student and Family Information Forms are sent home at the start of each school year. It is necessary that the forms are completed clearly, carefully and signed before being returned. All contact details, including emergency contacts must be kept up to date. Please ensure that you notify the school of any change of address, phone number, work arrangements etc. This is very important if the school needs to contact you urgently.



In the event of a grievance St. Monica’s has a protocol for dealing with grievances involving a student, parent or staff member:

  1. Issues involving students will firstly be dealt with by the class teacher.
  2. Failing a satisfactory conclusion, or if the issue is a wider school issue, it is then referred to the Principal.
  3. If there is no resolution, the parent should contact the Parish Priest.
  4. The Parish Priest may wish to involve the Diocesan Education Consultant or Diocesan Director.


Assessment & Reporting

Our Assessment and Reporting policy focuses on what children learn, on the way they learn and provides information to parents, children and teachers in a clear and concise manner. Each child has a Learning Journal that contains samples of work in each subject area. These Journals, along with informative teacher comments and child self-assessments will provide parents with an excellent insight into their child’s progress. These are sent home at the end of each term and returned in week one of the next term. Reports contain information on what has been achieved, what still has to be achieved and how parents are able to support this process.

Reports are distributed towards the end of Terms 2 and 4 each year. All reports are treated as confidential documents, and will be sent home in sealed envelopes. Parents have scheduled interview times in Term 1 and 3. However, parents are encouraged to make appointments at any mutually acceptable time during the year to discuss their child’s progress.



The enrolment process commences each year with an Information Evening for parents generally in May, this is in conjunction with the schools tours are still to be confirmed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Information packs will be sent via email or posted if requested.  Enrolment forms and our Information Booklet can be found in the download section of this website

Prospective enrollments will be invited to make an appointment for an enrolment interview with the Principal. Enrolment interviews normally take place in July. Please contact the school on 5447 7832 to make an appointment.

The School Board is made up of a group of parents, the Principal, Deputy Principal, Parish Priest and members of the staff Leadership Team. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month.
